Harriett the Pheasant who was involved in a car accident about a month ago was released today. She went very cautiously and stayed in the garden for most of the day.

As the early evening approached she decided it was time to leave the security of the garden and go and find other pheasants. We all hope she is doing well- we wish her luck!!

Today we had a leopard gecko in for surgery. The gecko had developed gut impaction from eating its own wood chip bedding which caused a blockage. There is a high anaesthetic risk with these animals due to their size, and the risk was even greater due to the gecko not eating.

We went ahead with the procedure which was very delicate. It was a surprise to all what was taken out of the gecko's intestine. The quantity of foreign bodies present was immense.

The gecko recovered well from its anaesthetic and was very active this evening. Only time will tell now as this little youngster needs to gain an appetite and make a full recovery. We will keep you informed of his progress.
